Four correctional officers have been suspended after the Kandelario Garcia-Ramos escape.  They were judged as being negligent in their watch over the convicted murderer.

Two of the officers worked in observation towers at the medium security Maryland Correctional Institution-Hagerstown during his escape.  They are not yet being identified.

The two remaining officers did not notice the inmate’s absence at their routine head counts.

Garcia-Ramos escaped Jan. 17 and was captured within five days after having traveled only six miles.
