An audit initiated after DNA evidence was contaminated at the Baltimore police crime lab has been concluded.
The audit uncovered numerous problems within the lab. Paperwork was discovered to be incorrect. A lack of financial resources resulted in damaged equipment or no equipment used for various tasks. And heating and cooling systems were not sufficient to protect the integrity of various types of evidence.
Francis Chiafari, the labs current director is expected to address the issues in the audit, according to a well known Baltimore newspaper.
