On February 27, 2009, at approximately 4:29 p.m., officers responded to Pennsylvania Avenue and Silver Hill Road, Suitland for the report of a pedestrian crash.
When officers arrived, they found 12 year old Jontae Wells suffering from injuries lying in the roadway. Preliminary reports suggested that Jontae attempted to cross the busy intersection when he was struck by a vehicle. The driver remained on the scene and Jontae was transported to Children's Hospital where he was admitted in critical condition.
Today, Jontae died from his injuries. Jontae was a 5th grader at Benjamin Foulois Elementary School and lived in the 3500 block of Silver Park Dr, Suitland. There are no charges pending in the crash, and the results of the investigation will be sent to the State's Attorney's Office.
