Prince Georges County, Maryland…The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Violent Crime Unit has arrested and charged a man for impersonating a police officer and possessing a firearm.
On February 28, 2009 at approximately 12:20 a.m., officers made contact with the suspect, Nathaniel Mines, Jr., at the Knights of Columbus in the 1500 block of Southern Avenue in Oxon Hill, MD. Mr. Mines told the officers that he was an off-duty Fairmount Heights Police Officer working part time security at the establishment. Further investigation revealed that Mr. Mines was not employed as a police officer, although he had represented himself on previous occasions at the Knights of Columbus as an officer. A black Cadillac Escalade belonging to Mr. Mines was located nearby and had been outfitted with a red and blue visor light and siren. Mr. Mines was in possession of various badges, ballistic vests, a police radio and a handgun.
Mr. Nathaniel Mines, Jr., 39 years old, of the 9100 block of Greenbelt Rd, was arrested and charged with Impersonating a Police Officer and Possession of a handgun.
