This investigation will be conducted thoroughly, yet expeditiously. The incident was recorded by one of our in-car cameras and a copy of the video is in the possession of investigators. I ask the public to withhold judgment on this incident until the completion of our investigation. Once the investigation is complete, we will release the findings to the public. I want to assure our residents that the integrity and public trust of this Department is of utmost importance to me. We will maintain that trust by being open and accountable. In the meantime, I have suspended the police powers of the two officers involved in this incident," stated Chief Hylton.

I have confidence in Chief Hylton and his commitment to having the law enforcement personnel act professionally to protect and serve all citizens in the community regardless of their economic status, color of their skin or language they speak. There is an internal investigation underway in this matter and I will follow the outcome closely."
